OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 26 athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 MLB Draft League Series from June 10-16.
The Junior National Team will play six exhibition games against MLB Draft League teams throughout the series. The Frederick Keys and West Virginia Black Bears will host all games, with the Junior National Team playing two games against each of the Keys, Black Bears and State College Spikes.
The MLB Draft League, entering its fifth season, has become the premier destination for Draft-eligible players each summer.
The Canadian roster will feature four players with experience in previous international competition including LHP Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, BC), INF/OF Tim Piasentin (Coquitlam, BC), RHP Max Poirier (Nanaimo, BC) and RHP Adyn Schell (Toronto, ON) who participated in the WBSC Americas U18 PanAmerican Qualifier in 2024.
The Junior National Team roster also features 21 players that recently took part in the MLB Dominican Professional Academy Camp, including RHP Austin Blair (Victoria, BC), LHP Shane Brinham (North Vancouver, BC), OF Philip Cheong (Richmond Hill, ON), INF Esteban Dessureault (Trois-Rivières, QC), 1B Félix Gosselin (Drummondville, QC), RHP Nick Halvocitch (Waterdown, ON), OF Finn Hoeschen (North Vancouver, BC), RHP Will Hynes (Mississauga, ON), INF Jordan Jacob (Maple, ON), OF Easton Kitura (Spruce Grove, AB), RHP Walker Kokotailo (Surrey, BC), RHP William Labonte (Okotoks, AB), MIF Elliot Lascelles (Toronto, ON), LHP Jerôme Lucas (Montreal, QC), LHP Mathis McKenna (Rigaud, QC), INF Robert Omid (Mississauga, ON), RHP Noah Powell (North York, ON), INF Justin Rompré (Sainte-Anne-De-La-Perade, QC), RHP Julian Sabourin (Ancaster, ON), C Taye Thierman (Calgary, AB) and MIF Nolan Weinmeyer (Sidney, BC).
The Junior National Team’s lone addition to the Draft League series is C Evan York (Waterloo, ON) who will be wearing Canada across his chest for the first time in his young career.
Head Coach and Director of Men’s National Teams Greg Hamilton leads the coaching staff, which includes former National Team and professional players Chris Begg, Dustin Molleken, and Pete Orr.
